Background

From challenger to
category leader.

In the first half of 2026, REBEL scaled yfood's UK Google Ads programme while improving efficiency: growing revenue and new customers without letting return on ad spend slip.

The work ran across four connected fronts: Performance Max efficiency, brand search efficiency, new-customer acquisition and international expansion. Each one funded the next: efficiency gains freed budget, and freed budget became growth.

The challenge

Grow revenue.
Hold the return.

Scaling spend usually means accepting a weaker return. yfood's brief asked for the opposite: grow revenue and new customers while protecting return on ad spend, in a category where brand CPCs were creeping up under competitor pressure.

At the same time, yfood wanted its first paid-search presence in Portugal built from a standing start: no prior paid activity, no historical data, and a target of genuinely new customers rather than repeat buyers.

Efficiency that
funds growth.

Four connected workstreams, each funding the next. Auction efficiency freed budget, brand efficiency protected it, and both were reinvested into record new-customer acquisition and a brand-new market.

Performance Max efficiency

Migrated UK Performance Max to a third-party CSS, cutting auction costs. Standard Shopping absorbed the freed spend for +40% conversions and +41% new customers at a lower cost.

Brand search efficiency

Restructured brand campaigns by match type, isolating exact-match brand terms and controlling bids precisely. Rolled out to the Netherlands, halving brand CPCs from their April peak.

New-customer acquisition

Deep taster-pack discounts paired with a sharpened Shopping and PMax structure turned yfood's May promotion into a record acquisition month.

International expansion

yfood's first Portuguese paid-search presence, launched in weeks: brand, generic and competitor campaigns built to win awareness in an untested market.

reinvested as growth.

Portugal: a market
